A NYC Bike's Life Cycle

January 27, 2012

365 Lonely Days In The Life Of A NYC Bike

Have you ever wondered what would happen to your bike if you chained it to a post and left it there for a year? Have no fear! Red Peak Videos decided to document a New York City bike's life cycle for 365 days by taking a picture of it every day.

The bike was chained to a post on a frigid New Year's day in Soho. As the days go by you see the bike slowly disappear. By day 238 everything that was attached to the bike wasn't attached anymore, by 252 it was entirely destroyed, by day 270 the bike completely disappeared!

The NYC bike lived a happy yet lonely life until around day 238, when everything it ever had was gone.

In conclusion, you shouldn't leave your bike chained up to a post for 365 days. So hipsters, beware. Your bikes will vanish before your very eyes if you leave them hanging around NYC alone for too long.
